  • So look, I’m ambivalent right now.

Blues are incoming. This is better as at least things will stop getting actively, aggressively worse since Reds won’t have full free reign. I will take what victories I can right now.

However, your entire point remains entirely undisturbed. I don’t believe they will actually do much. What keeps me ambivalent versus bitter is that nothing has had a chance to happen yet. They haven’t been sworn in, nothing but words have been thrown around yet. Talk all you want, I’ll believe it when I see it.

People didn’t believe AOC was gonna be anything. Now I’m not glazing her, but those same people also predicted she would fail immediately. All I said was she has to make it through her first term before we can really take a measure of the girl, and look where we are now. Those folks were wrong and she is a voice that people have no choice but to reckon with one way or another as she has a following and sway within it. Like her or not, those are facts.

There is a glimmer here, and I think what we can expect from the voting public of this generation is the genuine desire for not the same old shit. That’s why we got Trump in the first place; he wasn’t the same old fart who made empty promises. He came in with passion and common speech rather than boilerplate PC phrases and promised to change the status quo. Monkey’s Paw activated on that one for those who voted Trump, but I am seeing that in the current vote as well.

Again, I’ve got no crystal ball to see how it will turn out, but the hope I once had has somehow limped its way out of the rubble of this administration. Doesn’t mean it’ll get very far, it just isn’t dead yet, y’know?

  • Just in case anyone is curious as to what you mean, here’s a brief historical context.

Up until Trump and adjusting for inflation, George Washington was the wealthiest president in history with his net worth contributing an actual percentage of the US wealth at the time. I mean, we were still getting national loans to the tune of a few million dollars per deal and that was considered adequate at the time.

Jefferson used the White House as his personal palace while he was President and spent as much time throwing dinner parties and receiving guests in his dressing gown as being President and trying to undo everything Hamilton left behind out of pure spite.

It wasn’t until damn near Lincoln (1828) that your average man was able to vote, as only those who owned land were considered educated enough to have a say in government, and when Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation we had the “who can vote” conversation all over again, and then once more and with feeling for the women after that.

  • I remember being at a parade some thirty years ago when Chuck rolled by on his float. My father went from silent to rather animated, “Hey Chuckie boy! FUCK YOU, CHUCK!” I was still rather young and so I asked what just happened. My father took a moment to compose himself, then stated, “I voted for him to get to where he is and he betrayed me. I have every right to tell him to his face that he failed me and exactly how I feel about it.”

He’s been a disappointment since then.

  • “Those who make peaceful protest impossible make violent revolution inevitable.”

I can assure you the actual liberals in America don’t want violence either. Don’t look now, though, because the violence is already happening regardless of what the liberals want. Looks like the kids in France saw that they were headed for an American situation and decided they would make sure the powers that be know they won’t stand for it. They also looted supermarkets to feed the homeless in the process.

When you are sold on an idea and words that quickly turn out to be little more than bait to sucker you in, how long are you willing to take the words of comfort while things around you actively get worse? Everyone has a breaking point. The French happen to be on a hair trigger all the time, sure, but I don’t think these kids are wrong for demanding what they were promised.

The vocal support may be going to Le Pen, but clearly there’s a significant plurality who actively won’t stand for that authoritarian bullshit. Only time will tell where France lands.

  • Which will drain their available assets and put them into a state which could use a fresh influx of cash to deal with the multiple impending natural disasters along with the ongoing nearly-perpetual drought. So both him and his company lose money, shrinking him year over year.

Let the fuckboy run his fuckboy company. The rest of the world is sick of his shit, too. Nobody will have any sympathy for him as he slowly realizes he’s been a regular smelly greasy human just like the rest of us. And when societal order collapses, his compounds won’t count for shit. He will be eaten one way or another.

  • Palpatine and his minions are shit and deserve to fry.

The independent contractors who accepted the construction gig because its the only one in town? I have much less vitriol for them just trying to make ends meet in a system that leaves them little other choice and would hope you feel similarly.

Let’s also make an important distinction in my claim here; I feel bad for the actual every day blue collar workers who have to submit or suffer with the difference being one of degrees. I have zero compassion for those who lick boots and support the system.

In this scenario we have the useless and the evil. I’d personally prefer useless over outright evil, and with the actual demographics of the country and access to information being what it is - requiring more than three brain cells to process properly which is something many in the US cannot claim unfortunately - I can confidently say complaining about democrats and refusing to vote for them will hand Republicans and Palpatine the keys to total domination. At least the useless dead weight assholes get in the way and gum up the works on ancient principle.

I never said it was ideal. But it is what we currently have.
