World News@lemmy.world•Vladimir Putin rejects Zelenskyy’s offer to meet and reaffirms Ukraine war aims
24·23 hours agoOr.
Russia is telling the truth and the United States is using Ukraine for a proxy war. Sorry I couldn’t cater to you while attending to personal business. I’m even more sorry you have no curiosity to go look. Afaik, the US government website made documents public about this that were searchable online, at least until they decided to change tack.
Anyway I’m in a significant amount of pain so have the last word. I just wonder how everyone is going to feel when this all resurfaces and realizes Russia is telling the truth and it’s the United States and Ukraine who are lying.

World News@lemmy.world•Pentagon raised threat of Israeli spying on U.S. to highest level, sources say
73·2 days agoThe Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency in recent weeks issued the new counterintelligence threat assessment amid rising tensions between Israel and the U.S. over the way forward in the war with Iran, the officials said. They said the DIA posted an internal message, viewed by one of the current officials, that raised the level for Israel to “critical.”
The designation stems from concerns within the Pentagon that Israel is making a particular effort to surveil top U.S. officials to get information on the Trump administration’s internal deliberations and decision-making on the conflicts in the Middle East, the officials said.
Israel has never not spied on enemies and allies alike.

World News@lemmy.world•Poland formally requests new permanent US military base
28·4 days ago“We will do everything we can to increase the presence of American troops and create the best possible conditions for our American partner,” he added. “The American side expects details and commitment…and we are currently working on this.”
At present, Poland hosts around 10,000 US troops (though the precise number varies depending on rotational deployments), and Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that Poland currently spends around $15,000 a year for each one. But “this is not a cost, it is an investment”, he emphasised.
Wonder how that will work out for Poland?

World News@lemmy.world•‘An equal and habitable world is possible’: academics set out sweeping vision for planetary survival
5·4 days agoJason Hickel, a professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a visiting senior fellow at LSE, said: “It’s an important and timely intervention. All of this is technically feasible to achieve – we can have good lives for all within planetary boundaries – but it will require organised political struggle to make it happen.”

Vice versa, I think.
