For clarification, dairy in the US is heavily subsidized and as a result the US dairy industry over supplies massively. The industry wants to 1)retain these subsidies and 2) gain export markets to drive up demand so they can raise prices (including in the US). As stupid as that is domestically, for other no country’s domestic dairy industry can possibly compete without equivalent subsidies or some kind of protection.
So framing this as wanting to compete in the “free market” is complete nonsense since the US is purposely distorting the shit out of the dairy market by propping up their supply side.
