There are so many things wrong with the ad – starting with accepting the GOP framing of rights as an “ideology” – that it’s hard to know where to begin. The second ad is just as bad. In that one, Kaptur brags about being a would-be Republican.
“I’ve repeatedly said no to my own party,” she proclaims. “No to defunding the police. No to open border policies. And no to teaching gender ideology in schools. I work for you.”
Putting aside the fact that defunding the police was never a Democratic Party policy, the ad continues to position Kaptur as sympathetic to Republican concerns.

This should have been the year we dusted off the shelves and sent these relics to the pasture.
I keep seeing these headlines about how badly the Republicans are going to lose, and I’m not so sure. It seems like the progressive voter base is growing and it’s getting a lot harder to vote blue no matter who. Seems like this dinosaur would probably even support some of Trump’s policies.
I don’t like my representative choice in November, she’s definitely not going to cosponsor anything further than left of center. But I’ll probably still hold my nose and vote for her and double down next cycle to get a progressive on the ballot.

It’s for this reason that we should remove ALL books from schools. Why is some “mathemagician” writing our kids math books. Clearly parents know how best to teach their kids!

That’s the problem with “blue no matter who.” These rat bastards hide their colors in the primary. They wait to the general and start flying the terf flag. Then they browbeat trans people and their allies saying, “well, you have to vote for me. What are you going to do, vote for a Republican? If you don’t vote for me, you must support Trump and Republicans!”
Of course, if people do vote for them and they win the general, the next primary isn’t actually useful to get rid of them then either. A that point, the same mouth-breathing liberals will change their tune. Instead of “vote her out in the primary,” the tune changes to, “well, we can’t lose an incumbent seat in a purple state, not for something as trivial as trans rights!” And all the donors will support the transphobe, as they’re the incumbent.
To a lot of liberals here on lemmy, there is simply never an acceptable time to vote out the bigots. We’re just supposed to sit down, shut up, and ignore it as the party gets taken over by raging bigots.

Back when I was A child the teams were always mixed at any school an whatever I went to. This gender/sex segregation bullshit these days is so dumb.

No matter how you slice it, sports working is all about drawing random lines to categorize people to be able to compete with eachother. Boxing, wrestling etc… have weight classes. Point is there’s not any specific reason why “biological sex” is the chosen category, and admitted there’s not a reason why it should be. Do cis men overall have inherent advantages over women, yes. Do left handed baseball players have an advantage… seems to be the case for some reason.

Also these kind of seats are a good place to put a third party. What we should do when the Democrat is shit like this. Also if you lose primary run as independent. Just need to explain to people in local and state elections and in Congress we don’t have to vote lesser evil.
Look at Bernie Sanders he runs as independent.
