It’s users like this who gives Linux users a bad reputation.
When shit like this happens it’s your responsibility to call these shitheads out.

There’s always pyinfra.
However. The easiest solution is probably a custom shell script that checks which OS it is and does different things based on that. It doesn’t have to pretty as long as it works for you.
Edit: Why do you keep reinstalling your operating system?

The quotation marks indicates a distance from the expression. They’re clearly used to show that Linus considers the term someone else’s label and something he doesn’t endorses.
While I also disagree with how he have behaved and his opinions, I think it’s important to not make up alternative versions of what he has said or not said.
I was being sarcastic. ;) The first letter in those word are barley visible.
I wonder what these things do? 🫣

14·25 days agoThe first Mac I used was actually a Macintosh with a black and white screen. I don’t remember the exact model. We also had iMac G3 in school and later modern iMacs at work. My wife is also a Mac owner and has worked with them.
I’m no way an Apple expert in any way, shape or form. However. I do know enough about them to know that they’re ridiculously locked down to the point that you can barley call yourself an owner of your own system.
With that said. Apple computers are popular, so it’s apparently a winning concept for some, but it’s not something for me.

51·26 days agoI like being given a workflow designed by UX engineers, it means I don’t have to think about it and I can just do my work instead of figuring out the best workflow.
And that’s perfectly fine, and probably the most sensible thing ad well. However. The user should have the option to do whatever they want to.
My opinion is that computers should stay out of the way as much as possible. It’s an appliance.
Exactly! And that’s not possible if you have to fight it every time you use it.

Software piracy is the very reason that Microsoft got all the market share and had the power to ruin it for Linux.
Either pay for the software, use free alternatives or write your own software.
