Ive not looked into it so I don’t know what kind of challenges they face. Theoretically, I don’t see where the problem is though…

The primary input is a users “wishlist” of things they want. Each thing is then compared against a master list which confirms it exists and when it should be available (metadata). This is optional, but offers a more rich experience. Lastly, each thing is queried against a torrent index to try and find it. Its a relatively simple procedure. I guess the only question is whether books appear on these indices or not.

After a quick glance at the notice on their site, it seems metadata was the problem… or more precisely, no work was being done to move to a new provider. It kinda reads like they lost steam and stopped developing it.

Japan is nice to visit, not so nice to live there (there’s better and more easily approachable places). Racial discrimination is not new in Japan and their laws don’t indicate of any changes like western societies have been implementing. You aren’t getting lynched, but expect housing refusals, difficulties finding jobs, social exclusion, and stereotypes.
This is a gross overgeneralization though. If you find like minded people, they’ll accept you. Shit, if you grew up playing Final Fantasy, chances are, your peers there did too and any stereotype is quickly forgotten.
But in general, don’t be surprised when you don’t get served beer cause you ain’t Japanese.

I mean, he is using his position to gain wealth and power. Im sure he didnt get there by being stupid. No, hes not some Tony Stark level engineer and his intellectual and engineering achievements are nothing of note. Hes really good at swindling people and getting a large proportion of the population to like him, that takes some talent.
