I can definitely see both sides. On one hand I do agree the actual change itself is pretty meaningless. Just don’t fill the systemdb entries with any info. However what the change represents is much more alarming. It signals a foot in the door to open source devs conplying to the authoritarian whims of a governmental power. They should definitely not comply with dumb legeslature like this, especially considering their userbase.

TLDR: the change itself is dumb and small, but what it means for the foss community is much more alarming and dangerous.

OpenMW has an android port. You still need the original files but it does work if you have a someone capable device

Tumblr works well provided you are in to that kind of posting/fandom. They haven’t enshittified their web ui, so you can access the website without the use of their app. You can easily sign up with an email alias and use a VPN for location/IP.

Firefox and its forks like Fennec and Iceraven let you install a website as an “app” and the feel is essentially the same (on android, not sure about ios). Slap on Ublock Origin, Privacy Badger, and Noscript and isolate in a sandbox or work profile and you have a pretty good setup, despite using a mainstream service.

There’s also the fediverse ofc. Pixelfed offers an experience like Instagram, and Loops is similar to TikTok/Shorts but with smaller communities and creators.

I still don’t see Mozilla as a bad actor, especially in comparison with the villany that is google and microsoft. It’s still a great alternative for privacy newbies and average users, although I personally made the switch to librewolf (desktop) and iceraven (mobile) a while ago. Both being forks of firefox, development for actual firefox is essential for either of these to survive, so Mozilla still has my support albeit indirectly
