1·6 days agoSay what you will about big cities but no one gives a damn about you and its great. Someone rude to you? You can literally never see them again. It’s wonderful.
Lol what, i have lived in a big city my entire life and had plenty of nosy weird neighbors who got up in my shit because they were old and bored. and just random strangers come up to me and start trying to start a fight or whatever because they are just weird and miserable.
my life in a small town, was relatively free of any of that. i remember in my hometown nobody ever bothered us. it was glorious.

41·9 days agococktails are expensive because they take time to make. $15 cocktails is pretty cheap for me, where I am they are often closer to $20 unless you’re at a dive bar. $10 is a domestic beer or a house wine, which is what most folks drink when they go out.

not a huge economic loss. that’s two drinks at a bar, our four coffees at starbucks.
people are spending a lot more than that other places. I have known plenty of people who are pay $2400-3000 a year on gym memberships they never use, because they had to get on to a ‘good gym with a steam room’ or something utterly absurd like that. who also whine about how broke they are and how expensive everything is… the same folks who ask you why you don’t have the newest iphone that just came out and talk about how ‘old’ their 1 year old phone is.
or just the habit of eating out a few times a week, will easily run you $300 a month or more.

the epstein pedo ring is rich people. they are immune from prosecution, no matter the crime. they are not even really into children, they just fuck them because they can and there is shit you or anyone can do about it.
the only pedos who get prosecuted and are considered criminal, are regular ones without money or connections. because they want to fuck kids out of legit compulsion rather than as a ‘fuck you’ to society.

1·12 days agobecause society is jealous. they wish they could be him.
they aren’t jealous of a horder. they think that person is sad and gross.
I have family member who have a net worth of over 50million, all they talk about is how poor they are, how they can’t afford anything, how everything is so unfair to them… etc. They believe they are struggling working-class people. They adore Elon and think he’s a genius and they wish they could be as rich as him and they think if they were all their ‘struggles’ would be solved… they especially love the idea of never paying any taxes, because they think taxes are theft from themselves to ‘waste’ on poor lazy piece of shit who refuse to ‘grow up’ and go get 250k/yr jobs.
and there are lots and lots of rich people like my family who think the same way… and who think because they donate like a pittance of their money each year they are morally perfect human beings.

21·13 days agono it’s everyone. my family is small and hyper-conformist. they basically abused their children into conformity. anytime their kids ever wanted to do something ‘weird’ like, not play baseball, they basically abused them back into conformity.
it’s typical american suburbanite ‘normal’. they think i’m a libertine degenerate because I am single and living in a city and drive a small car and eat vegetables.

11·17 days agoit also just depends on how you sit. if you are sitting upright and more elongated, it shouldn’t happen. very different from say, sitting on the floor or squatting or sitting with a position where you legs are elevated to be the same height as your torso or higher.
your BP drops because all the sudden because heart has to fight gravity when it wasn’t doing it before.
do you want to eat 20lbs of cucumbers and tomatoes in a week or two?
i love my garden when stuff comes in, but after the 3rd week of harvest I basically throw it all in the garbage because i’m so sick of eating tomatoes. I only consume maybe 10% of what I produce in a year because it all comes in at once, and I can’t eat 50lbs of tomatoes a few weeks as a single person.
And no, I’m not interested in setting up a pickling/canning operation, thanks. Which is always the ‘solution’ people come back at with me, and then they tell me I’m lazy and wasteful.
I had one friend who did setup a huge terraced garden, but then basically gave up because it was consuming his life and his neighbors got so pissed off that it was attracting wildlife. He killed like 8 groundhogs in one year, and he hated doing it but if he didn’t’ the fuckers would destroy his entire crop. So he just gave up because the entire thing was just too much work and too much misery. Now he’s back to growing a few tomatoes and other plants in plastic tubs because it’s simpler and it doesn’t attract wildlife.
Yeah, if you live in a rural are with a few acres, go wild and create your personal Stardew valley, but otherwise, just do it for fun and chill out about ‘cost efficiencies’. Your backyard plot of a dozen plants is never going turn you into a self-sufficient farmer. It’s a novelty for some tasty veg for the summer.
sucks. my strawberries i started years ago are pretty dope. but the harvest is inconsistent every year, due to weather. some years I get a lot, some years I get virtually none.
it’s also cost you a lot of time
I’m so sick of dummies thinking they are going to survive the collapse of society or prevent it buy planting a vegetable garden.
And yet I see someone posting their anxiety cope on here once a week, at least. Asking for advice how to become a homesteader on their 1/4 acre lot in a city/suburb. They write a 1000 word essay on the topic, asking of r ‘advice’ how to learn a lifetime of veggie growing experience into a few sentences so that they can be coming ‘self sufficient’.
Grow plants if you want, for fun. But stop with the prepper bullshit. Stop being an paranoid egotistical idiot. If society collapses, you are fucked and there is shit you can do about it. You are not the protagonist of a apocalyptic movie, sorry to inform you. You are an extra whose only purpose in the story is to die or already be dead in the background of the shot.

don’t worry, you won’t even really know because your brain will degrade so fast.
