Another idea: have ‘lending libraries’ for hobbies. Leave your art supplies and check out a keyboard and a Ukulele. Donate leather-working tools and while you are there you can use the 3D printer. Kind of like a cross between a maker space and a book library.

Smaller libraries might be able to combine the two ideas. I know you used to be able to check out video cameras and AV equipment before everybody phone did that at my library.

This way creative people in the community who otherwise couldn’t afford to express themselves could have access to the tools to do so. I could make more room in my house by donating the art supplies to people who I know will use it… at least until they get bored of that and want to try something else.

I could see people holding classes there in how to use the tools properly, or even just hanging out to give advice to people who want it.

How do you know they were leftists? I don’t know where you are from, but it’s been known that bots and foreign powers have been attempting to influence U.S. elections since at least Trumps first term, and let’s be honest it’s extremely likely that it has been going on for far longer than that.

There’s not a leftist on Lemmy who wouldn’t rather be patronized while being stomped on than being cussed at while being murdered.

And yes, I voted. No, it didn’t help. It was moderates who didn’t vote, not leftists. Leftists believe in harm reduction while advocating for harm elimination- the two goals aren’t contradictory. Trump stole the election so it’s all pretty much moot anyway.

By focusing on the fact that Democrats version of bad is better than the Republican version of bad, it only helps to ensure that the Democrats are the best we can hope to achieve. There is nothing wrong in wanting actual good and instead of ‘least bad’.

I live alone and actively wish I could die. I’m not hurting anyone but myself.

I am glad that it’s not cool with the younger generations, and that the whole vaping fad kinda died back.

Still though, the amount of self righteousness and lack of empathy from some non smokers really makes me glad that I will never have to hang out with those types of people.

Addiction is a hell of a thing, and when the alternative is worse than quitting, it’s extremely difficult to quit.
