Oh yeah, it’s difficult to criticise her because it is a bloke criticising a woman and it just comes off poorly, despite my issues with her being absolutely nothing to do with her identity. I think I’ve had one or two mostly good PMs in maybe eight jobs across my career so far?
Nothing gets on my nerves more than when I fix something critical that’s broken on a client site, and then get an earful from my PM because we didn’t check with the client if they wanted it fixed, or they didn’t have the support budget for that this month, or whatever else. I honestly think the management at my place want our client sites to be broken and stay that way, it’s so weird.
Our current PM gets involved in projects from day dot. Plans out vague technical ideas, makes up timelines, gets involved in meetings and suggests things to clients, totally rules the roost.
Shame she’s completely fucking clueless about any of the actual work, really.

Cos they’re work, and I’d like to not have to talk to my colleagues as I don’t particularly like them. I do make an effort to enjoy my time with my friends, and I am better at not interrupting them.
I often find that, when talking to my project manager, I’m wrong when I assume I know where the sentence will end. Even if just a little bit (and even if sometimes it’s because she’s wrong in what she’s saying).
How can I get better at shutting up and listening to people? It’s absolutely fucking mortifying and makes me feel childish when I notice I keep interrupting people and getting it wrong.
That’s true, you don’t have to know who everyone is before you comment. But if there’s literally one person named in the image you’re commenting on, and you’re commenting about that one singular person, you don’t reckon it might be worth just popping their name into a search engine at all? Rather than just going ‘hmm, I don’t know what I’m talking about here but I’m just gonna whack a comment in anyway’?
