Sounds like some pro-genocide corporations are asking to be boycotted
Ireland has been preparing to sanction trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories for a year, provoking criticism from Israel, international company lobby groups and threats of reprisal from U.S. lawmakers.
Business representatives in Ireland have this year urged the government to delay any law and reduce its scope, the sources said, to avoid antagonising U.S. companies and investors, discouraging them from investing in Ireland.
Apparently not buying products produced from illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land is “too large a scope”. Seems waaaay too specific and insignificant to me but apparently that’s what’s keeping all the big corporations up at night
Even products from israelcitself should be boycotted since the settlements are funded by the state and isrsel proper is the one comitting genocide in gaza
It’s more about not buying services from companies that profit from providing services in the occupied territories, such as Airbnb and Booking.com. The Irish government is bending over backwards for the hospitality sector, so this is in line with their policies.
They said they’d do it to get elected; they got elected a year ago. I’d be shocked if they did it now, they’re a bunch of spinless mouth breathers.
We need the names of businesses that oppose sanctions. Let’s see how concerned about the impact on investment they will be once we have a list of entities that support genocide.
Irish folks, you know what to do.
Ireland does love their corporations. Basically a tax haven.
We don’t, but our dog shit, landlord, centre-right neo liberal ministers sure do!
Also virtual signaling till they actually got to do something.
Man did I fall for it until I moved the fuck out and see what the history books actually tell us.
