People at work probably think I don’t want to share details of my personal life, when really I just can’t remember what I did this weekend.
Some coworker: “What do you do for fun?”
Me: “I don’t even remember driving to work”
I’ve always been like this as well. I forget everything unless I think really hard about it and trace the events step by step.
There’s also the autism of not wanting to be observed, so if I am to remember I have to force myself to “observe” myself through asking my own mind what I did. Which might be the reason for the “forgetting” as a way of unconscious protection.
“Why did I walk into this room again?”
Long term memory is fine, excellent even. Short term memory like a goldfish though.
Completely unironically a good thing to be thinking on a regular basis.
Also really helpful to keep a notepad on hand and write things down, so you don’t lose track of them.
until the notepad joins the others in the void
Me with 5 notepad apps and all of them with random nonsense for notes yet I refuse to delete them.
How did you hack my phone? (/s)
I thought I was being smart because I almost always remember my phone, so no more looking for misplaced notebooks. Now if only I can remember which app I saved that idea in and what title I gave it.
Stop reminding me…I just consolidated some knowledgebases…
