This is so wild, is this american?

I did the test in German, most questions were like choosing between mostly reasonable options and something an religious extremist from the middle ages would propose, it puts me to the absolute left…

Its wild to me that you would need to agree to statements like “my race is better than others”

Or “a non religious person can’t be moral”

In order to be put in the middle. Those are faaaaaar right statements, not moderate ones lul.

Someone from the CDU (christian conservative party of germany, generally considered moderately right wing) would get put on the left here…

    Wtf

This website is an perfect example on how far the overton window in the US has shifted. Anyone with a brain and a heart lands on the far left.

no, but i’m not a fan of dogmatism in general. plus ‘stalinism’ gets used as a smear against MLs broadly, many of whom i don’t really take issue with. i have plenty of issues with stalin, but i don’t think ‘stalinism’ (or MLs more broadly) to be as much of a threat to my existence as say capitalism or fascism.

I mean your going to be called a tankie cause your on ml. Don’t hang out in the tankie bar if you dont want people to think your a tankie. Kinda cut and dry there. Doesn’t really matter what your beliefs are one way or another. If you hang out with a large group of people who are mostly one thing, everyones going to assume you are also that thing till proven other wise. Its stupid but its reality. Arguing against that is like arguing against gravity. The ground wins every time.

tbh the test is kinda bs anyways, the libertarian/authoritarian axis naturalizes capitalism by treating state coercion as the only kind of coercion, as if unfettered ‘free market’ capitalism isn’t authoritarian too.

it makes the axis useless for actual analysis because it can’t account for economic power as a form of authority, for example a landlord evicting someone in a “free market” reads as libertarian while a workers state reads as authoritarian, even though the material experience of coercion for the person being evicted is very real.

Well from the view of political science this axis is meant to represent social norms, not economic.

So a workers state can be liberal, in a sense that there is no free market, but freedom of love, freedom of movement, freedom of lifestyle or freedom of job choice or it could be authoritarian in a sense of prosecution of gays, presribed places of living, prescribed places of work and forcing people to live in a certain way.

Left = money and power should be distributed Right= money and power should be centralized

Liberal = do what you want in every other aspect then power and money

Authoritarian = live the way the majority dictates, dont diverge.

Those categories are not useless in and off theorself, its just that the website uses them wrong.

For example: anarchism - communism - socialism - Leninism are all on the political left, as they all want power to be distributed among the many, but they differ in their level of liberalism/authoritarianism.

(Though it is to note that none of the ideologies praises authoritharian policys, its just that some deem them more necessary in the beginning than others)

Left Liberal societies accept and protect minorities if they dont try to accumulat power/money

Left authoritarian societies try to extinguish/assimilate minorities into the hegemonial culture no matter what.

I knew that I had gone left since the start of 2025, but not that I had actually crossed over; I went left 2-&-1/2 squares.

Yep, compared to my 20’s i definitely drifted further to the bottom left. When I’m 60 i’m gonna hit -10/-10

    image

Edit: I’m pretty sure my non -8 value on the l/r axis comes from my approvement of tariffs (to be paid by the importer) to protect domestic industry, to even out advantages other countries may have because they don’t give a fuck about environmental standards, paying a living wage and occupational safety. If you don’t do that, you get situations like in Germany, which was one of the leading solar panel manufacturers before cheap chinese panels came along and wreaked havoc on the german market. In those cases, tariffs can be a useful tool, because it would be a nice thing if the necessary solar revolution would not be based on an exploitative basis.

These stupid labels are a scam. The rich want you to fight each other over meaningless differences so you don’t realize they’re the ones fucking you over.

I think Lemmy has contributed a bit in my going down two and left three.

My mom was a pretty standard democrat, and even she was at about -7,-7.

My Fourth of July post? Not really. I am of the sincere, wholehearted belief that gay interracial couples have the constitutional right to defend their cannabis plants with M240 machine guns, and am supportive of the idea of universal healthcare and postsecondary education in the US. However, I also admit to being more supportive of the US military and its actions abroad then most here would likely appreciate, seeing as I’m a military brat myself, and remain cautious/skeptical of, albeit less-than-hostile nowadays to, leftward economic policies. I also don’t have quite the hate-boner for AI that much of this platform seems to have.

And, of course, fuck the IRS.

Huh. While I can’t say I understand all your positions, that explains your placement in the graphic. Also, im happy your exploring your own beliefs and finding they changed, I guess.
