I know the mod report system isn’t perfect, but if you are submitting a mod report that alleges a user is a previously banned user trying to evade a ban, please message me (or us) explaining why you think or how you know that. If the post isn’t breaking any of the other rules, the only piece of evidence I have to go on is that the account is new and submitting a post, but we can’t use that as sole criteria for identifying whether someone is or isn’t evading a ban.

This is a fair and reasonable approach. It’s good to see that mod decisions are based on evidence rather than assumptions. Thanks for clarifying how reports on possible ban evasions should be handled — it helps keep the process transparent and fair for everyone.

Not that that isn’t good advice to make mods’ lives easier in general, but for the ban evader I think you’re talking about, it’s usually pretty apparent if you look at the profile of the user being reported:

    1. Minutes old, 10+ posts and no comments or maybe 1 boilerplate-looking one.
    2. Usually cycles through c/Politics, c/News, c/Health, c/UK, c/Ohio, c/Television and a few others
    3. Here lately, spams out 10+ posts rapid-fire and then deletes the account (not all UIs indicate a user is deleted, but that info is often helpful).

Granted, I’m really good at pattern matching. It’s like my one neurodivergent superpower lol.

…yeah. I added a filter in Tesseract to automatically hide “drive-by” posts for accounts that are less than a week old who self-delete themselves. Can’t stand that.

          Neat.

I use Alexandrite on desktop, and don’t use Tesseract because I’m banned from the !tesseract@dubvee.org community despite to my knowledge never having posted there. Alexandrite does at least show if a user is deleted (or banned), with some bold red text, so the culprits are easy to spot if nothing else.

The “dwou” accounts are pretty obvious when they’re all named the same and immediately spam posts…

I imagine that’s why you’ve gotten so many reports to feel this post was necessary.
