I can’t even tell when someone’s being sarcastic online anymore, but… yes, this is what antifa means… and it’s why you never hear Trump’s people say the whole word.

Literally yes. It was coined in Germany in the thirties as a shortened version of the antifaschistisch in Antifaschistisch Aktion, an anti-Nazi organization put together by the German Communist Party. It’s been used as a rallying label for antifascists all over the world ever since, though it has never since then been an actual centralized organization. The term was already well-known in England before the it took off here in the US as consequence of our own fascists obsessing over it (And putting the emphasis on the wrong accent, “Aunt TEE fah” like antiquity instead of “ANT eh fah”, which I’ve lately realized might have been intentional on their part).

    • Originally it was short for Antifaschistische Aktion but yes.

I remain the California #LeaderOfANTIFA and have been since 2020. (I’m also Spartacus.)

ANTIFA has been decentralized for some time now, and includes anyone who is willing to fight against fascism in all its forms, hence the hashtag, one of many.
