I listen to mostly death metal and my wife is into musicals. Its really not an issue. I have gone with her to Book of Mormon (a musical), she has gone with me to metal shows… actually she used to get me back stage to several (she worked catering). Personally I’m all for erasing the white identity. Its a fucking lie. My grandparents and great grandparents etc were Norwegian, Italian, Scottish. They did not consider themselves white.

If one wants to make an argument about an American melting pot identity, blending these cultures together to something new, you are lying to yourself if you try to exclude the massive influence non-‘white’ cultures had and continue to have on that shared cultural identity.
