Nvidia GPU aren’t a deal breaker on Linux with most of the common distros, it is just that their drivers aren’t baked in to the kernel and tend to be more likely to cause issues. If anything it has gotten better over the years. That being said, I went with AMD for my most recent GPU to avoid this exact issue because I did run into some serious Nvidia drives issues.

They actually did a lot of mess with Pro as well. There has been a “watering down” of Pro since Windows 10 to make sure that they can still do their anticonsumer crap to users. I imagine they also are trying to push businesses to get Enterprise instead of picking up relatively easy/inexpensive Pro licenses.

For some values of “extremely” maybe. Also many “state schools” are universities, so you probably should have gone with “private universities” instead. State schools are still an order of magnitude more expensive that most universities in Europe. If I was of school age now, I’d likely not be able to afford to go to college even with the scholarships that I had received.

Google can get fucked. I feel like there will be a nontrivial market for de-googled or older and unlocked Android phones after this. If they manage to kill off custom roms with their previous AOSP rug pull I’ll go back to using a (subpar) Linux phone or maybe even one of those cheap flip phones.
