All these evangelistic types are grifters. Play on people’s fears and hopes so that the money rolls in. False idols and all that.

Honoring a student at a Turning Point USA event, Erika Kirk said, “Despite the devastating loss of Charlie Kirk, my incredible husband… Caleb has persisted with the same grift - gift - grit… it has been a long day.”

“Trust me you’re not a grifter, honey,” she said to the student. “It’s all good.”

    • You know, I would have given a pass on this, not that she deserves it. I have such a low opinion of these people that I didn’t think she’d be familiar with the word.

But the fact that she turned to the kid and said that instead of just kept talking, that’s something.

Reading the quote it doesn’t sound like she was necessarily talking about Charlie Kirk. What was actually said was very ambiguous and there are a few different ways it could be interpreted only one of which would be in reference to Charlie being a grifter while the others wouldn’t. It’s certainly interesting and a decent chance it was a freudian slip, but the article title doesn’t really seem justified. It acts like this is some huge bombshell when it barely qualifies as a footnote.
