designed to deter companies from becoming involved in a proposed West Bank settlement that would split the territory in two

Not deter Israel from stealing more territory, just deter companies from participating.

It is not clear if the UK will go so far as to ban trade with illegal settlements.

I trust that they will be sending a strongly worded letter declaring that this new settlement is unacceptable, before accepting it.

Lip service. With no actual sanctions on the state itself or ceasing to send weapons and components, then it’ll be more useless than the paper it’s written on.

Better use maximum leaverage. Cuba style sanctions on israel.

Pass sanctions, threaten allies and prevent fuel and all other goods from entering the country. Blockade Israel.

Yes. But if they can’t do that, at least not yet for political reasons, they shouldn’t do anything?

When there’s a case of genocide being investigated, the UK would like to say that they did all they can to prevent it. All while the beat and outlaw protests against the genocide.

It’s OK to call out the hypocrisy.

Or do you want me to clap for them like a trained monkey and say “what a great step in the right direction”?
