At one point, Miller told the assembled local police officers, “I see the guns and badges in this room. You are unleashed. The handcuffs you’re carrying, they’re not on you anymore, they’re on the criminals. And whatever you need to get it done, we’re gonna get it done.”

The 40-year-old stated that they had deployed over 13 government agencies, including the FBI, DEA, ATF, ICE, and the Department of Defense, which Hegseth has since rebranded as the “Department of War.”

“The gangbangers that you deal with, they think that they’re ruthless, they have no idea how ruthless we are,” Miller added.

“They think they’re tough, they have no idea how tough we are. They think that they’re hardcore, we are so much more hardcore than they are, and we have the entire weight of the United States government behind us. What do they have? They have nothing behind them. So we are gonna win, they’re gonna lose.”

At the Wednesday appearance, Hegseth thanked the assembled Memphis law officers for working in dangerous places “where politicians spend a lot of time second guessing… the impossible decisions that you have to make that they will never understand.”

Hegseth, Bondi and Miller spent around an hour in the Shelby County Office of Preparedness and left via the rear entrance, according to WREG TV.

Bondi said on X that 53 arrests had been made and 20 illegal firearms seized in the first two days of the Memphis Safe Task Force.

I don’t get why anyone wants to have this kind of articles in their feed. It’s insane how much keyword based content filters I need to add each week just to cut down on what ever this is. This is so incredibly bizzare.

Then why did you feel compelled to post that response like it was a disgusting burden? You even said you needed to add more words to your block list. Maybe I’m misunderstanding but when one feels the need to block something then it usually means they are offended by it.

I don’t understand why people want content in their feed that only makes them angry and feeds their tribal biases. It’s like fast food, except not even enjoyable to consume. I get why OP posts it - it attracts a certain type of person like moths to a flame - but it’s those moths I have no theory of mind for. Writing angry comments about someone to a homogeneous audience that already agrees with you, just to get pats on the back and feel like part of a group, is so intellectually uninteresting to me that I want nothing to do with it. That’s why I block all these articles, the kind where I can predict the entire comment section without even opening it. If there were actual discussion, I’d be all for it, but it’s nothing but a mudslinging contest I have no wish to partake in.

Thank you for taking the time to explain your position on this.

My feeling is that while, yes, there is an echo chamber here, it’s important to have these posted to see what is being said. I’m sure there are many people that haven’t read this or understand what is going on because the right does not share this, will undercut it, or cut it to propagandize their echo chambers. Others share them with other social feeds to have discussions or raise awareness.

There will always be bias in anything you read. Sometimes the bias is stronger and, yes, this is meant to rile up the left. The Daily Beast is a strong left bias, but are they wrong? This man and his words alongside his position of power is unhinged and dangerous. We need people to be aware and get angry. People need to be uncomfortable so that they act, in some way, to help fight back. Not all Conservatives are devoid of thought and empathy and perhaps even seeing this will get them to stop and think. Many won’t, but you need to start getting the ones that can change to change.
