The one good thing about it is, that athletes from sports that aren’t money makers have a way to earn a livelihood while striving to be the best in their area. Other countries severe discrepancies there. In Germany for example, most athletes have a side-job or are employed by the armed forces in a special sport soldier capacity to fund their sport career.

That however is the only good point and that is also just a remedy for another problem.

Because sports is also a skill that we want some people to develop? Including sports that aren’t profitable?

I also hate that sports has turned into profit centers for colleges, but I’m happy when profit from some sports supports unprofitable choices.

The university I went to is known for the breadth of its sports program in addition to being one of the top academic schools. I’ve never participated in or even watched most of them, but I’m happy they were there. We not only develop top scientists and tech people but top people in archery or rowing or water polo or whatever arbitrary sport. That’s a good thing

i’m torn because i am generally for whatever gets someone an education. if they’re good at sports and that lets them pay for college, fantastic. should we offer the same support to everyone in the system? absolutely. but i don’t like kicking the supports out from people who might need them.

No, no, we shoukd just use it as an excuse to give trans people zero options.

    And increase the price 500%

Edit: the price increase for everyone; no transphobia in that; make it an administrative fee for excluding trans people.
