That was me, and not LW admins. I had tried to run it past them for awhile, but then jumped the gun before they were ready.
And that’s not at all what I said. The thing I said that was similar was about having rules against echo chambers. But I’m terrible at convincing people of things and instead of trying to convince people I started with the worst possible consequence.
Really I just want to prevent r/the_donald. I was there for that whole history, and I watched how they used moderation powers to turn it from a joke into a movement (that should have remained a joke.)
Ghislaine’s been fully committed to Omertà, by contrast.
It helps to have seen what happened to Epstein first. (Likely by Trump.)
It’s almost like some people here desperately want to create division in the left.
Glad to see it backfiring on one post.
Dude. They’re bedbugs. We don’t need extra shit on top.
Doesn’t matter. The goal is to get people apathetic or ineffective at voting.
Oh man, the accounts don’t like this idea.
Vaultwarden is what you’re looking for.
All that domestic violence that happens on coffee house first dates.
What the fuck happened with the water? This place didn’t seem great, but there were some apartments with nicer floors that clearly weren’t flooded before the raid and were flooded after the raid.
If you block it, you can’t downvote.
And besides party lines, you really don’t want policies that only really punish politicians who haven’t grifted.
“They” is solely me. I wanted to prevent things like r/the_donald and r/antivax, so I drafted up a neutral policy to address it. Instead of trying to sell it, I went with an engineer’s view and tried to think of the worst possible consequences of that policy.
I tried to run it past admins for awhile. Didn’t get much of a response, and then published it. After it was published, they had me retract it, and then it was never revisited.
We didn’t always get along, but I respected as appreciated your work as a moderator. Moderating a big sub like !news and not having a third of the community at your throat is an accomplishment in and of itself.
I’d love to have completely different moderators across our biggest communities, but it’s quickly becoming evident why that’s harder and harder to do. People are always more willing to throw rocks from the sidelines than actually try to help the situation.
Thank you for what you’ve done here, and good luck with whatever you decide to do. You’ll always be welcome here, including if you change your mind.
