4·1 day agoYoure going to have to look at a spec sheet, but the stoves with a built-in battery tend to designed to draw a constant low amperage as they charge, and then be able to cook about three meals from the battery. Very different from stoves without a battery.

8·1 day agoThere are a few models of induction stove which include a large battery to run them by charging from 120v. Stoves are also kind of unique in that they have far less effective venting of exhaust than other appliances, so the health risk from them is much larger.
If youre able to get enough sunlight to charge the stove, its worth thinking about.

71·3 days agoCongress can remove a justice with a majority vote in the house and a 2/3 supermajority in the Senate. This means you can’t actually remove a judge unless they lose support from within their own party, and the Republicans have shown that they wont go along with removal no matter what.
This means that in practice, the path forward is to add additional judges, so that the Republicans are a minority, and unable to do any damage.

6·8 days agoNew nuclear is a fairly expensive way to generate electricity and site-constrained by cooling water needs. I don’t expect that much to be built.
Wind and solar are however quite cheap. Be just fine to have spot instances in your datacenter. And yes, home users should not be subsidizing big companies.
Her other ideas, like taking wildfire risk reduction out of the electric bill and putting it into billionaires income tax are also really good ones
