Any room can be an escape room when you lose core motor functions.

I actually don’t believe DMT affects your motor functions like alcohol, but the saying holds true still!!

What’s the DMT experience actually like? Is it similar to rolling on E, or is more like mushrooms? Both were quite therapeutic for me btw.

I would say it’s more akin to Salvia in its intensity and duration, 15-20 minutes. The experience itself is like a very fast, concentrated acid trip.

What’s interesting to me is that my experience, and others that I’ve talked to, are all very similar: you blast off and break through spacetime; then, the electro-mechanical gnomes try to show you some deeply complex information, but it’s incomprehensible to you, and that somehow amuses them.

I only had a small hit once so I didn’t get the planetary experience but I found it gave a certain intense kind of clarity.

I always saw aztec shapes and entities and weird colourful snakes. They tried to show me these weird symbols but I never figured out what they were meant to be. They did try speaking it to me though.

I once miscalculated the THC content of something, and really overestimated my tolerance. I was stuck for around 24h (clock time) with… slightly terrifying mental issues. I could function, as in, perform the tasks to maintain my continued survival, but that was about it. Really all there was to do was to repeat a mantra of “yout perception of time and self is fried, this will pass, you’ll be fine” for hours. Holy fucking shit, never again.

I’m not well versed in drugs. I have these “delta 9” gummies that I’ve taken on rare occasion. If I accidentally have just a hair too much (which is really not a lot…maybe like 2/3 of a gummy), my perception gets really fucked. It’s like somehow my perception becomes a sequence of still images/photographs rather than a world in motion. It is very disorienting and uncomfortable and I don’t like when that happens. It almost feels like I am being teleported from place to place with no memory of how I got there. Then the image of where I currently am gets stuck for a while until the next “photograph” happens.

It’s not just a one off either. Rather, it always happens if I take around the suggested dose or a bit more. I don’t understand why but I wish I could experience the gummy without that effect.

It made me not really get into using them much so I guess that’s a good thing.

Edit: I seem to have found the name of the phenomenon on Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akinetopsia

If 2/3 causes it, sounds like 1/2 is your dose.

I have this worse with Delta 9 than I do Delta 8, too.

The annoying thing is it’s really hard to precisely cut the gummy so I’m in a sweet spot. The phenomenon seems to happen I think somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3, but it can vary. It’s such a narrow window between minimal effect and too much for me. I’m also wondering if maybe the gummies have “hot spots” where some areas are more or less concentrated, making it more difficult for me to accurately dose.

Interesting that it happens more often with delta 9 than delta 8 with you. I’m wondering if that might make a difference. I went with delta 9 as it’s supposed to be closer to actual weed.

Weed is a complicated thing, and different breeds can have different balances of each derivative cannibinoid. Even within the same plant it might vary slightly.

Delta 8 is more prevalent in “hemp”, so it’s often easier to get, but definitely my preference.

Also if it’s hard to cut evenly in half, maybe aim for quarters or thirds of it? Try dosing around that point at first, you’ll get more doses and can better have a mild effect rather than a full high.

Damn, they turned getting stoned into a fuckung science now. Back in my days, we would smoke whatever someone bought from a shady dude behind the school, and we were happy with it!!

Jokes aside, it is a fascinating subject. I rarely smoke these days, since I tend to be less alert for way longer than my schedule allows, but it is really interesting how things move from “folk wisdom” to actual evidence-backed papers.

Does that akinetopsia* ever come with any other physiological effects, like a slowed or rapid heart rate, dizziness, feeling feint, anything like that? Or just the visual aspect?

I had a similar experience once, then suddenly passed out (only time in my life), after being given a “THC” vape at a party. I’ve never had interest in Delta 9 or any other processed THC and that experience made me extra weary.

No, but I could see how that can happen with vaping. I tried a vape like 1-2 times and both times I hated it. I was coughing like crazy and didn’t understand how you were supposed to be able to do that and not feel like your throat and lungs are on fire. Even if it was a technique issue, it seemed like a very unhealthy way to consume such a drug. So I only was interested in trying edibles from there.

Both the anoxic effect from inhaling a substance that isn’t oxygen and the more rapid onset of how you feel the effects of vaping can cause lightheadedness and for some people to pass out iirc.

You might like to try either an edible or one of those canned weed drinks. But the unfortunate downside with them is that the effect takes a LONG time to kick in, and it’s easy to accidentally dose too high before that. So it’s better to start slow (look at the recommended dose and HALF that), and then add more.

What the hell was in your vape… I’d be scared that there was something nastier than just THC in there.

Anyway, on the topic of weed consumption, I’ve had really good fun with a “herb vaporiser” from a friend. It’s like smoking, but without the coughing and without most of the lung cancer, it tastes super mild, and you can really nicely control the dosage.

What do you mean what was in my vape? Have you never seen someone try a vape or cig or something for the first time? Inhaling anything into your lungs is a fucking godawful experience the first time or several times you do it.

Like I said, I’m sure it’s both a technique issue combined with tolerance. But the experience is way too unpleasant for me to want to experiment with.

A cigarette is mostly smoke and semi-burned bullshit. A vape should just be water vapour with additives, really. It should not have that effect, unless someone did something pretty stupid, right?

Water vapour with additives can definitely cause you to cough if you inhale it directly to your lungs. I understand the effect to the lungs is absolutely nowhere near cigarette smoking, but it is still absolutely something that can and does cause people to cough. I’ve witnessed this effect on others trying it their first time too. No, they were not all the same vape.

I had a roommate once who could mimick these colours on paper with just a few coloured pencil. His whole room was covered in these pictures.
