    If everyone is guilty of crimes against the state, no one is guilty of crimes against the state.

      That’s really not how that works.

      It’s really more like… If everyone is guilty of crimes against the state, then anyone can be imprisoned at any time.

      (All at the discretion of those in charge.) This is really a much worse situation for everyone.

        I expect you’re quite worried about this situation but try not to be so dismissive of others, please.

        Yes, in a very real sense it means that the Government can target their enemies with impunity. But in another very real sense it suddenly throws everyone over the barrier of having committed a ‘crime’ and may well remove any moral or ethical barrier one might feel in opposing the regime.

      If everyone’s guilty of crimes against the state then everybody’s in for a bad time. The population of the USA is going to go way down over the next few years.
